Quite Queer Night Near is a text adventure where you need to escape a small silly nightmare by finding the right rhyming pairs to advance. How will you get beyond the bare bones stair stones and find your freedom?

It was originally submitted to EctoComp 2019, in the Petite Mort (4 hours coding or less) section, but I punched it up and re-released it with more robust hinting and rewards for guesses and an overall smoother player experience.

The game is not intended to take too long to play. A hint item also appears in-game if you make enough good guesses.

There should be a downloadable zip file with a zblorb if you want to play it in an interpreter. I have also included a walkthrough.

My GitHub site has all the source code, which means total spoilers. Visit it at http://github.com/andrewschultz/quite-queer-night-near.

This was really fun! I enjoyed coming up with ideas and seeing if they worked.

The first pair was a nice, straightforward introduction to the mechanic of the game.

It could use some more signposting and some polish, but that's the norm for a 4-hour game.

I enjoyed this a lot and now I want to play Very Vile Fairy File!
